Septic Tank Risers and Lids

A riser brings the tank access up to grade so nobody has to dig for the lid again. Cracked and buried lids are a safety hazard and they make every future service call more expensive.

  • Risers installed to grade with sealed, secured lids
  • Cracked concrete lid replacement
  • Safe access for pumping, filters, and inspection

Septic tank riser A septic tank riser is a collar that extends the tank access opening up to ground level, finished with a sealed, secured lid. It replaces a buried lid that has to be dug up for every service.

A riser makes every future pump-out and inspection faster and cheaper, and a secured lid keeps children and animals out of the tank.

The situation

Why access is a safety issue, not a convenience

Older Colorado tanks were buried with heavy concrete lids and no risers. Every pump-out starts with locating and digging, which adds time and cost to routine service. Worse, concrete lids crack with age and freeze thaw cycles, and a cracked lid over an open tank is a genuine fall hazard for children, pets, and equipment.

A riser solves both problems permanently. The access is at grade, the lid is secured, and the seal keeps groundwater out and tank gases in. It also makes it realistic to service the effluent filter on schedule instead of skipping it.

How the job runs

How riser installation works

  1. Locate and expose the access

We find the tank lid and clear the area around it, often during a scheduled pump-out.

  2. Set the riser

The riser is fitted and sealed to the tank so nothing leaks in or out at the joint.

  3. Install a secured lid

Lids are fastened and gasketed. Nothing that a child can lift is left in place.

  4. Grade and finish

We backfill and finish around the riser so it sits flush and mows over cleanly.
